About predacious diving beetles (Dytiscidae):
Predacious diving beetles are large, predatory aquatic insects.
The long hairs on the hind legs (tibia) are called natatory setae and function as flippers, increasing swimming ability. They are also referred to as water beetles. They're about one inch in length.
