About common snapping turtles:

Common snapping turtles grow to a length of eight to fourteen inches. They are found near freshwater and brackish ponds, marshes, slow rivers, streams, and lakes. Females lay eggs in June. Hatchlings emerge after several months. Common snapping turtles can live up to twenty-four years. They spend most of their lives in water.
